With over 20 years of Patent Prosecution and Appellate experience preparing, prosecuting, and maintaining over 400 domestic and international patent applications (drafting over 60 Prevailing Appeal Briefs and over 600 Amendment Responses), April has protected client’s products and services in a timely cost-efficient manner with several Fortune 500 clients and various others. The vast technology areas of these cases include software, digital signal processing, mixed signal processing, analog circuit design, security software systems, storage systems, semiconductor processing, cloud computing, converged infrastructures, Internet of Things (IoT) systems, memory, wireless (cellular) communications/ fiber optics, broadband, telecommunication switching systems, medical instruments, power generators, and various mechanical devices and systems. During her tenure on the Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the USPTO, she drafted over 500 Appellate Decisions.
Her current practice also includes Trademark Prosecution and Copyright Prosecution. Additionally, she has substantive experience in Patent Licensing of software and a range of various products and services in multiple technology areas, including but not limited to telecommunications, switching systems, standards, and various other electrical and mechanical devices. In particular, she has substantial experience in negotiating and drafting complex licensing agreements including patent and software licensing, patent cross-licenses, patent pools, patent acquisitions and patent sales.
